Summary of Services Provided by MCECC
Muslim Children Education & Civic Center (MCECC) of San Antonio, Texas, is proud to offer variety of religious as well as social services. A summary of all such services is below:
Eid Prayers
MCECC organizes and sponsors both Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha prayers. Many volunteers help out in organizing the prayers both before Eid and on the day of Eid.
Eid Carnival
Every year after both Eids -Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha- MCECC holds the Eid Carnival. All games, foods, drinks, and other activities are organized and sponsored by many volunteers and community members.
Youth Activities
MCECC holds youth events on a periodic basis. These include educational events as well as social events with games and food, and sleepovers especially for the youth.
Sports Teams
The MCECC offers sports facilities for the young and the young at heart. It has a full basketball court, a cricket pitch and a lawn for badminton or volleyball.
Weekend Breakfast
Every Saturday and Sunday, the Masjid has a short halaqa on Tafseer-ul-Quran by the Imam. After the lecture, breakfast is served and attendees can ask questions or hold discussions.
General Lecture
Every Wednesday, a lecture is held by the Imam of the Masjid on different advanced topics. In the past, topics such as Salah, Usool ul Fiqh, Marriage and Divorce, How to raise your Children in the west, Signs of the Day of Judgment, and Fasting have been discussed.
Fatawah
The Imam of Al Madinah Masjid, Mufti Sheikh Ameen Aziz, is readily available to give fatawa in confidence if desired.
Counseling
The MCECC offers Islamic counseling services through the Imam, Mufti Sheikh Ameen Aziz. The area of counseling varies from family counseling, to financial counseling from an Islamic perspective.
Marriage
MCECC offers Nikah services, allowing a couple to get married according to Islam and the legal system of the State of Texas.
Divorce
MCECC offers divorce counseling and if the couple desires, it allows a couple to get divorced according to Islamic and national laws.
Funeral
MCECC holds complete funeral services for Muslims. It offers cleaning and bathing services for the deceased, followed by funeral prayers and burial at the Muslim cemetery.
Sunday School
The MCECC runs a very successful Sunday school where Muslim children are taught Islamic beliefs and values, practices, Quran and Salah. Over 120 children are enrolled in the school that runs from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM every Sunday, except during the summer and the month of Ramadan.
Zakat and Zakat-ul-Fitr (Fitrana) Distribution
MCECC provides Zakat and Zakat-ul-Fitr (Fitrana) distribution facilities to its community members. MCECC allows its members to donate Zakat (charity) and then it distributes it among the poor and needy, according to Islamic rules.
Ramadan Activities
MCECC offers daily free Iftar dinner for all the community members during the month of Ramadan. Iftars are generously sponsored by various community members. It also holds Daily Taraweeh prayers everyday and finishes the entire Quran in the month of Ramadan.
Leave of Absence Letters
The sponsored provides leave of absence letters for Islamic events and holidays, including the two Eids. The letters aid students or employees to take time off from school or work for religious reasons.
Prayer Schedule
MCECC regularly compiles and posts prayer schedules every month. Monthly prayer schedules, along with Azan and Iqama times may be found on flyers, or posted on the masjid bulletin board, or posted online.
Carnivals and Picnics
Periodically, MCECC hosts carnivals and picnics for the benefit of the community. These social events have free food, games and rides for children, and sports activities. They allow Muslim families to get together and have fun.
