The dream of starting a new center to address the Islamic, Cultural, Educational and Civic needs for ever growing population of Muslims in San Antonio was put into practice by its planning in 2004 and then the purchase of land for this purpose in March 2005. In a very short period, we have witnessed the plan in action and the eventual construction of very beautiful, spacious, and architecturally unique building that exist today and known as Muslim Children Education and Civic Center (MCECC). It was mostly constructed in August, 2010 and the crown, the domes, installed in August, 2011. It is only through the untiring efforts of the entire community and the special blessings of Allah that we have been able to accomplish this monumental, historical, and extraordinary achievement.

Since the first public fund raising, our generous community has pledged approx. $3.363 million. However, about 25-30% of the pledges remained uncollected.The original purchase of the land for $325,000 in 2005 is not included in the above donations. All of the funds raised so far have already been used to buy the two lots of land, development, and the constructions of the buildings. Our construction budget required lot more funds than the funds that were available by August 2009. Therefore, MCECC requested some community members to extend personal loans to the center for about $900,000. This loan was deemed by the board of MCECC to complete the center in due time and to reduce expenses. Alhamdolillah, our community is blessed to have earned the trust of its members who took personal loans and extended it to the center. MCECC and its community intend to honor the repay the loans as the money becomes available.

Allah (SWT) said:

“The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allâh, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allâh gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allâh is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower”-Al-Baqara, 261.

This year was the first full year and Ramadhan that we enjoyed in the new building. We were specially blessed to have Qari Buchair to lead the Taraweeh and his most beautiful and divine Qirat. May Allah bless him for his services. This year’s fund raising could not have been successful without the continued efforts of our honorable Imam, Sheikh Amin Aziz. May Allah bless him and his family.

We are especially thankful to the group of brothers who did private fund raising for the construction of very beautiful “Gazebo”. It has accommodated 300-500 Muslims for daily Iftar Dinner. Our most heartfelt congratulations go to our special “MCECC team of Volunteers”. They made it possible to host such a huge number of people on a daily basis and all other special event.

Our immediate objectives are to pay-off the existing debt, support and expand various activities at the MCECC and also look forward to expand the center through the purchase of additional land.

Remember, you trust Allah and the need to establish and support House of Allah. You donated your time, money, and everything else to accomplish this goal. As soon as you walk-in within the premises of MCECC, you get the feeling of peace and blessings of Allah. MCECC will not only be a unique landmark in the entire country but it will, Inshallah, also lead the nation through its activities.
